Hazard Info

Health Hazards (mixtures)
Mixtures as defined by GHS are Mixtures or solutions composed of two or more substances in which they do not react. Also note, alloys are considered to be mixtures for the purpose of classification under the GHS. The GHS has 10 Health Hazard classes which are listed below, along with their routes of exposure. Each Health Hazard Class contains one or more hazard categories.

In terms of classification, if test data is available for the complete mixture classify it as such; if not use bridging
principles if applicable (see below) or, if bridging principles
are not applicable, estimate hazards based on the known ingredient information.

If data is not available for the mixture itself, apply Bridging principles:
  • Dilution
  • Batching
  • Concentration of mixtures of the highest category within on e hazard class
  • Interpolation within one toxicity category
  • Substantially similar mixtures
  • Aerosolized mixtures

If Classification is based on the ingredients, apply the additivity formula:
  • Data available for all ingredients
  • Data available only for some ingredients

Click the hazard class below to view the related categories and information.
