Apple Releases Banned Chemical List

As noted in Macworld’s recent article, Apple published its first list of regulated substances (banned chemical list).  Amid calls for increased scrutiny regarding the potential usage of carcinogenic substances, Apple concluded that no widespread use of benzene or n-hexane had occurred in its manufacturing facilities.

In a growing trend amongst product manufacturers, Apple’s move highlights the significance of knowing what’s in your products or what’s used in the manufacturing of your products.  Product stewardship initiatives embrace the notion that the products that we manufacture and take to consumers should conform to the highest levels of safety and sustainability for employees, customers, end users, and the environment.
